Ogden Terrace Mural

We, the gardeners of Ogden Terrace Community Garden in Bernal Heights, are planning to create a mural in the Ogden Terrace community garden in San Francisco. The design is by John Elliot. He has made made bigger and smaller murals around the world. He is willing to make this mural small and removable by painting it on wooden panels. We mount the panels to the wall of the house next to the top entrance of the garden or build two or three posts to mount it in place. He can starting work on this mural in August. I would like to get some feedback on the design of this mural as we have it now and on the plan to have it be painted on a removable surface. Above are two montage images of the mural. The image at the bottom of the page is a scan of the initial sketch.

You can click on the image for a larger view. The whole budget we decided on during our Spring meeting was $450 of the general funds and additional funding as needed through private donations. We have raised about $100 with a small yard sale in June and are planning to continue fund raising to achieve the completion of the mural. We expect the mural to cost less then $1000.

You can post comments on this site or e-mail me directly at vleddy@yahoo.com.

The owner of the building does not want us to paint the mural directly on this building. He is afraid it will compromise the water proving of the house. This is why we came up with the solution to mount the mural (or better, paint the mural) on removable panels that can be placed in the garden on posts.
